Comment on Mann vs Steyn et al. discussion thread by thisisnotgoodtogo

Jim D, I’ve watched video of Steyn absolutely demolish those attacking the rights of the press ( 3 law grads at once ) and forcing them into self-humiliation, ’cause they were puffed up with hate and repeating falsehoods – then he turned and offered them his hand and invitation to dinner.

He’s not kidding about getting Mann on the stand. He’s not the guy to trifle with. Mann picked the wrong guy to attack.

How the courts go is a different matter, but Steyn is for real.

The issue regarding science as part of Steyn v Mann caused me to research the Massachusetts v EPA decision, when the US Supreme Court decided that the EPA is required to regulate CO2 as a pollutant. That decision was deeply flawed because, in part, it decided that there was no uncertainty regarding the CO2 effects. However Scalia’s dissent provided evidence that the National Research Councel had written a report describing the overwhelming uncertainty. I can see why the warmists do not want to go there in the Steyn case.

The video of Michael Brown threatening and intimidating the store manager (who’s less than half his size) while allegedly stealing a box of cigars certainly seems to show he was a first, not a third-rate hoodlum.

No wonder Obama’s DOJ soughto suppress it while at the same time encouraging videos of the street protest so that “the entire story could be told”

Steyn should correct this.

And nothing shows working for social justice more than looting a home electronics store.

‘Here is a simple sketch with the simplest caricature of carbonate and calcium carbonate reactions.

http://s1114.photobucket.com/user/Chief_Hydrologist/media/carbonatebuffer_zpse97712b0.jpg.html

Mineral CaCO3 – solid or in solution – dissolves to yield the calcium ion which reacts with carbonate to yield mineral CaCO3 water and CO2.

The issue is the availability of mineral calcium carbonate which acts to maintain the pH of the system and the saturation state. Calcium carbonate will continue to dissolve until a stable state is achieved given effectively unlimited availability.

I think it would have been a good learning experience for Michael Mann and the tobacco lawyers to watch this video series to see who they were thinking of messing with before they acted.

Looking at your Woods Hole link that micrograph of conch shell is produced under 2850 ppm CO2 and done in artificial sea water which is not at all like living sea water.

Having read your 2012 paper some time ago I was curious as to how you arrived at your preindustrial argonite distribution as there are no preindustrial pH measurements at all as there was no method to measure ocean pH or the derived argonite levels prior to the 1930’s.

Isn’t upwelling lower pH waters at the locations in your cites more likely the cause of pH changes they are describing? Certainly in the north Pacific.

Cleansed. Yes, that’s exactly what came to my mind when I read jim2’s comment. In my wildest spittle-flecked dreams.

It should be derived pH above. There is much discussion of the complexity of sea water, This would be good for you to address as a service Dr Howard. Nick Stokes and a chemistry professor had a highly interesting exchange.over this issue of buffering. Tell us why your curve is correct.

When I initially commented I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments

I get 4 emails with the same comment. There has to be an easy method you are able
to remove me from that service? Thanks a lot!

It a beautiful dance alright. Spain is said to have a rate of 50% fraudulent solar installations. Solar has been getting 6x the going rate for electricity .
Even running generators at night is good business.

No wonder the return on investment is so enticing!, eh Fan?
